New for 2011 - the Nissin Di622 Mk II flashgun is an upgraded version of the original Di622, which was originally released in 2008. The original Di622 was and still is an extremely popular flashgun - the most powerful available for the money. The biggest grumble came from the strobist community, where the original Di622 could not be triggered by all radio flash triggers. For the Nikon version of the flash, a firmware update (in early 2010) did solve the issue, but for the Canon version the issue was never 100% solved. The Di622 MkII has solved these issues, as well as gaining a wireless TTL slave mode. In fact, the Nissin Di622 MkII now has three wireless slave modes:

Slave Digital (SD) Mode: Di622 Mark II synchronizes to the pre-flash system. The master flash is to be set at TTL (E-TTL for Canon and i-TTL for Nikon) mode.
Slave Film (SF) Mode: Di622 Mark II synchronizes to the traditional single flash system. The master flash is to be set at manual mode. Studio lighting system synchronizes to this mode. This mode is also available for open flash, and for a standard flash in the market.
Wireless TTL Mode: Di622 Mark II synchronizes to the wireless remote flash system. The master flash is to be set at Channel 1 group A in wireless remote mode.

In addition to the radio trigger fix and additional slave mode, there are a number of other improvements, notably:
- PC sync socket (not present on the original Nissin Di622).
- 3.5mm mini phone jack (not present on the original Nissin Di622).
- “My TTL” setting for calibration of default flash output (not present on the original Nissin Di622).
- Greater compatibility - works with a greater range of cameras than the original Nissin Di622.

Overall, the Nissin Di622 Mark II does represent a considerable step forward over the original Di622. We think it will become a firm favourite!

This Flash Gun can be fitted with our Size 4 Inverted Dome Flash Diffuser Set, or the Canon 580EX Bounce Flash Diffuser.
