Ultra Violet filters help the camera to reduce haze by absorbing the ultra violet rays, which in turn helps to increase the contrast. This filter can be used semi-permanently on the lens as it also acts as a lens protector and only needs to be removed if you use various special effect filters.
This filter can be used for colour or black and white photography and has no effect on the focussing or metering of cameras or video.
